Synopsis

New York, the 1950s. Joe Clay, a charismatic PR man with a drink always in hand, meets Kirsten Arnesen, a whip-smart secretary who's never touched one. A Brandy Alexander later, a romance begins — intoxicating in every sense. As Joe and Kirsten marry and raise their daughter, Lila, the drinking they share curdles from glamour into a mutual, devastating dependency, and each must decide what they're willing to lose to be saved.

Based on JP Miller's celebrated teleplay and the Blake Edwards film, Days of Wine and Roses reunited The Light in the Piazza's Adam Guettel and Kelli O'Hara in an intimate, jazz-inflected chamber musical of rare emotional force — "a jazzy, aching new musical with wells of compassion" (The New York Times).
